2026 KPSA EVALUATIONS


The two-day KPSA Evaluations will take place during the June 8-11.
 Please see below for your player(s) appropriate dates/times. All groups will get two days of evaluations this year. 
Parents are not permitted to stay on the sidelines during evaluations. Thank you for your cooperation.

Registration for Fall 2026 includes registration for evaluations.
If your player wishes to attend evaluations for placement on a Winter or Spring team, please register for Evaluations Only.

Evaluation Location:  Pond Street Rec Complex. 33 Pond Street, Norfolk

ATTIRE:  Players must wear black (dark) shorts, a white shirt, cleats, and shin guards. Please do NOT wear anything with a club soccer logo. Each player will be identified by a number they’ll wear during evaluations. These will be assigned and handed out during check-in.

GOALKEEPER EVALUATION: Please plan to attend both days of evaluations above. In addition, email [email protected] to let us know you'd like to attend the goalie eval. (6th, 7th and 8th Grade)

Here are a few Q&A to help answer some questions that you may have. There is a lot of work that goes into selecting the dates and times, and they have been finalized with our outside evaluator. If you cannot make both days of evaluations, email [email protected]. It is strongly recommended that players attend BOTH days of evaluations.
 

Q: I want to volunteer but don’t have time to coach. How else can I help?
A: We’d love your help! You can volunteer to assist with field setup and maintenance or serve as a team manager to help with communication and coordination.

Q: If my child can't attend evaluations, can they still play?
A: Yes! Your child can still play, but they won’t be eligible for placement on the top team for their grade. Please email us at [email protected] if your child will miss both evaluation days.

Q: My child has another event on the day of evaluations. What should we do?
A: KPSA proudly supports over 500 young athletes, many of whom participate in multiple sports and activities. No matter when evaluations are scheduled, conflicts are unavoidable. This can be a great opportunity to talk with your player about priorities and commitments. If possible, players are encouraged to attend at least one evaluation session. All registered players will still be placed on a team.

Q: My child wants to play in the winter/spring, but not the fall. Should they attend evals?
A: Yes! Annual Evaluations are for all seasons in the fall-spring school year. Please register for Evaluation Only. They should plan to attend the appropriate evaluation sessions for their grade level.

Q: My child plays for a club team. Will that be taken into account?
A: No. Club participation is common. KPSA uses an independent, third-party evaluation team to ensure a fair and consistent assessment for all players. We do not consider information from club teams or other outside sources.

Q: Why is there a $20 evaluation fee?
A: To maintain a fair and unbiased assessment process, KPSA uses independent third-party evaluators. Evaluations are carefully planned and staffed based on the expected number of players, and each evaluated player requires dedicated time, attention, and administrative coordination. The evaluation fee helps cover these costs and supports a consistent experience for all participants.

Q: My player is in 3rd grade. I registered them for 3/4 grade and the evaluation is at the same time. Does that mean they will be evaluated against 4th grade players?
A: No. Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 are evaluated individually. Per BAYS, Grades 7/8 are blended.

Q: Are there make-up dates?
A: No. There will not be a make-up date. We hire a third party who will assess every child against their peers. Make-up dates do not allow for an efficient and consistent process.

Q: My player is considering another sport/activity for the fall. Can we sign up later?
A: We cannot hold or guarantee spots after registration closes.
 
Q: My child is a goalie; will they be evaluated based on that position?
A: Goalie evals are available to players in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. They should still plan to attend and participate in field evals for their age group; Goalie evals will take place during the scheduled evaluation session.
 
Q: My child plays other sports during the season that will conflict with soccer, what should I do?
A: When registering, all participants are asked to share the number of games they anticipate missing (with 10 games, missing 3 games would put your child at 70%). Please be honest, we want to make sure we have visibility so enough kids are included, and each team can field a team on game days.
